Vintage Persian Malayer Carpet

The pale slate field shows an allover Mahal-style design incorporating ragged palmettes, octagons in rosettes, stemmed oblique flowers and cogwheel ovals. Ecru border with an acanthus leaf meander and two sorts of reversing floriated palmettes. Cotton foundation, medium weave. Generally softer decorative palette.
