A vintage Persian Malayer rug. A well-abrashed taupe to dark brown field displays an asymmetric folk pattern of geometric leaves and rosettes, some overlapping others. The rug looks like a sampler but isn’t as the borders go completely around. Three leaf clover guards flank an ivory star and slanted bar main border. This scatter is too odd to be a true Malayer, so perhaps an attribution to an unknown Hamadan village is more appropriate.
