A vintage Persian Malayer rug. Dated twice influenced by contemporaneous “American” style Sarouks. 1348 = 1930. The taupe field shows three openwork floral arrays with wiry stems and detailed flowers in the sand, pale blue-grey and grey-green. Two diagonally opposite sandy cream corners show the date and Malayer rugs are rarely dated. The brown border of this west Persian village long rug features rosettes and leafy X’s.
