A vintage Persian Malayer rug. Not every element of the allover Herati pattern on the light beige ground is equally prominent. The open lozenges in dark brown, a few umber simple palmettes and numerous small plain squares stand out, but the usual ‘fish’ leaves are reduced to mere squiggles. This west Persian muted scatter has a creamy beige border with dark brown accents. Diamonds and squares look.
