The slate field of this medium weave west Persian runner (kenare) shows an interesting variant of the allover Herati design with a central pole of fringed small diamonds flanked by repeating independent modules of four lancet leaves and five round rosettes, seven modules in all vertically. Straw border with linear smooth vinery connecting widely spaced simple ragged triangular palmettes. For Malayer weavers the Herati design is just a hint or suggestion, not a design rule. Good condition.
