Vintage Persian Soumak Bag

Wool pattern wefts in sumak technique on a wool foundation. This top-condition khorjin set shows two front field panels in ecru, each with three rows of the mobile syrga pattern, bordered by a carrot-toned stripe ornamented with floating octagons. Bitonal reciprocal side minors frame the panels. The very dark blue, opened-out plainweave backs display loose seme of small dots, joined by a plainweave dark blue wool bridge. A dark blue strip appears at the bottom of each face.
