A vintage Persian Tabriz runner. This is a Tabriz city version of a classical 18th century antique Kurdish garden carpet including the essential elements: the crossing water channels; the square garden parterres; and the inclined chenar trees in colorful leaf. Probably from the interwar period when Tabriz designers created modern versions of classical carpets illustrated in the rug books of the time. Very clever and precise adaptation of a design originally in a 10’by 25’ format.
