Vintage Turkish Anatolian Pictorial Room Size Carpet

A wool pile of symmetric knots on a wool foundation. This seemingly unique village weaving shows an abrashed red field with chickens, supporting a large, layered, roughly hexagonal, red full-height medallion with four human-headed Buraqs surrounding a central near-black rectangle-in-hexagon enclosing two affronted lions. The central medallion features lateral zigzags and stepped finials. A salmon-rust, abrashed main border displays arrows and divided rectangular tabs, while a light blue-teal border band shows a zigzag motif.
