Vintage Turkish Anatolian Pictorial Rug

A wool pile of symmetric knots on a wool foundation. Originally woven as a yastik, or cushion cover, this amusing rustic ruglet depicts two confronting lions, one in rust-brown and the other in wheat and ivory, on an abrashed dark brown ground. Star motifs decorate their bodies. The narrow taupe-brown border displays small octagons and crosses in coral red, ivory, pale blue, muted green, and dark brown.
