Vintage Turkish Anatolian Pictorial Rug

A wool pile of symmetric knots on cotton warps. Three nearly identical mounted falconers move evenly toward the left across an open, abrashed red field. Their ivory and cream horses prance rather than gallop, while the riders are rendered in tan, rust, brown, black, and turquoise blue. The only additional field ornament is a column of floating turquoise-blue stars at the far left. The charcoal-gray border displays reversing fan palmettes in red, ivory, brown, and turquoise blue. Originally woven as a yastik, or cushion cover.
