Vintage Turkish Anatolian Runner

A wool pile of symmetric knots on a wool foundation. The panel-abrash beige field of this Kurdish kenareh (runner) displays an allover, half-drop offset pattern of hooked diamonds in red-brown, tangerine, slate, and green. In the lower portion of the field, a lattice pattern is tentatively introduced and then discontinued. The border presents a mosaic of squares, color-keyed to the adjacent field elements. At the top end is a banded plainweave strip with a white cotton weft-float zigzag line.
