These multi-panel, composite flat carpets are a relatively recent discovery in rustic Persian weaving. From NW Persia, this three-section piece shows wide and thread stripes in goldenrod and light grey-brown. The original band was two feet wide and who knows how long, but at least 30 feet. Woven by a single weaver, in wool and in a weft-faced technique. The handmade character is apparent in the ever-varying stripe widths. The sections jog rather than the bands run straight across. Vintage weavings. Good condition.
