Wool pattern wefts in a slit-tapestry weave. This exceptionally large flatwoven carpet features a serrated, diagonal ivory lattice forming staggered columns of diamonds, each with inner, gathered triangle decorations. A zig-zag ivory border appears only along the sides and matches the field in both color and pattern. Northern kilims rarely exceed five feet by ten, making this a particularly rare find. Although the piece is entirely geometric, it is the work of one of the rustic tribes in northwest Persia, rather than from the Caucasus.
