A vintage Turkish Sivas carpet. This eastern Turkish town Sivas really does approximate a Persian Tabriz with its dense red ground Herati major field design and the matching boteh (paisley) pattern in the tall ogival central medallion and matching quarter circle corners. The precise multiple borders also have a distinctly Tabriz manner. The weave is fine, but the handle is lighter than on a Tabriz. A good carpet for anyone wanting to add a formal touch to a room.
