Antique Caucasian Karabagh Rug

A wool pile of symmetric knots on a wool foundation. The field displays a vertical stripe, or cane, design in alternating rust and teal, separated by narrow ecru lines. The wider bands show abstract, often contorted flowers and small botehs. At one end, the diagonal stripes are rendered in sand and blue; along the sides they appear in rust and sand; and at the opposite end they are tricolored in sand, dark blue, and rust. Minor borders are in brown-black and medium blue.
