An antique Caucasian Karabagh runner. The close proximity of the Armenian Karabagh region to northern Persia accounts for the use of popular Iranian allover patterns, as here with an abrashed brown, close version of the Mina Khani floral rosette trellis on a nominally Caucasian rug. The palette is middle hued, without strong cochineal reds, deep indigos or bright yellows. The effect is moderately restrained and universally useful.
