Antique Persian Bibikabad Room Size Carpet

A wool pile of symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. The blue-grey to charcoal-slate field displays a three-column allover pattern of ice-cream-cone palmettes, winged leaves, octagram rosettes, and assorted abstract vegetal forms in ivory, soft beige, muted coral, rust, pale blue, taupe, olive, and brown. This represents an unusual departure from the typical Bibikabad repertoire. The narrow, strip-style rust-red to terracotta border features simple palmettes and sickle-shaped leaves in ivory, pale blue, olive, and brown, loosely connected by a broken tendril.
