An antique Caucasian Karabagh runner. This totally wild Karabagh was intended for the Russian market and it bears a close resemblance to furnishing fabrics of the pre-1900 period. The main pattern is really indescribable, but our familiar friends, the botehs, do appear in supporting roles. The slender border is really only a nod to convention and not an encompassing frame with its own decoration. The browns/straw/ivory palette is common on these “European style” Karabaghs.
