An antique Caucasian Kazak rug from the early 20th century with a distressed appeal, however, in strong and durable condition. The warm madder red field is divided into four rectangular panels, each with a central motif radiating four serrated leaves. The rust main border displays disjoint stars while the dark blue outer stripe has an undulating vine and simple palmette pattern. 2 separate dye lots were used to weave the top and bottom portion of the rust field and border; more vibrant rust on the bottom portion and a more earthy rust on the top portion of the rug. Kazak rugs mostly originate in what is today, Armenia in the SW Caucasus.
