An antique Caucasian Shirvan Pictorial rug. The central field depicts a gentleman in military dress garb and a similarly half-length portrait of an upper-class lady, and below is and open-air scene of horsemen pointing pistols at one another. There are two borders with the slanted leaf and calyx design in abrashed yellow-tan and in red on this finely woven antique east Caucasian scatter. There are a number of other pictorial/portrait Shirvan scatters with wide palettes are Czarist imagery. Red and gold borders with slant leaves and calyxes. Clearly the rug is pre-1917 and Czarist in basic iconography.
