An antique East Turkestan Khotan rug. Around tawny camel, the medallion is set between flower and stiff stem arrays on a buff ground. The fret corners are Chinese, but the main border of squares is a version of the Turkmen ‘aina gul’ pattern seen on nomadic rugs from Persia and other regions of the ‘rug belt’.
