An antique French Tapestry. This is a classic French landscape and verdure tapestry with long-legged birds in the foreground amid verdant trees and closes up tall flowering plants. The mid-ground displays a lake and country houses. Jean Pillement in Beauvais was the first designer of this style of tapestry, but it rapidly became popular in all French weaving centers. The mellow colors of our example are utterly decorative.
