An antique French Aubusson rug. This overall oyster toned tapestry woven carpet has a border and cartouche medallion defined by thin, wiry acanthus leaves. A floral bouquet accents the center and similar bunches are displayed in the corners. The effect is light, airy and almost diaphanous. This carpet dates from the later 19th or early 20th centuries and is in a Louis XVI style.
