An antique Persian Bakshaish runner. The rust-red field of this very solid NW Persian runner has a pole medallion formed from a central ivory hexagon and two middle blue similar, with palmette finials and attending lancet leaves. The ivory border has circular rosettes and six dot arrays in the Sarab style. In any case, a very well woven rug with genuine character and natural dyes. ‘Bakshshaish’ refers to a type of Heriz, generally of earlier date.
