Antique Persian Bidjar Carpet

An antique Persian Bidjar carpet. The Harshang pattern is writ fairly small and the carpet is really big and the resulting effect is quite different from the usual. The abrashed slate-graphite field tends to dominate and the pattern is neatly sprinkled on top in this massive Kurdish town carpet. Marigold, goldenrod, and straw are among the many detail hues. The unusual flower scroll main border has a sienna brown ground. Like all Bidjars, this carpet is solidly constructed and made to last and last and last.
