An antique Persian Fereghan Gallery carpet. This is an absolutely iconic west Persian village Farahan gallery carpet with a navy ground closely filled with a perfectly drawn Herati pattern and with a corroded celadon green turtle main border. The ivory triangular corners add a discreet touch. This type of Farahan was among the earliest type of Persian rug to be exported to the West in the 19th-century carpet revival. It is still one of the most sophisticated carpet types ever to come out of Persia.
