An antique Persian Kashan rug. In the general ‘Souf’ technique where the pattern is in raised knotted pile and the ground, here in sandy beige, is flat, either in a plainweave technique or with brocading supplementary wefts. The conjoint corners, medallion floral arabesques and border are all finely knotted with the characteristic strong Kashan red salient.
