Antique Persian Kurdish Rug

An antique Persian Kurdish rug. This unusual northwest Persian kellegi format rug has four flattened lozenge/octagonal blue-grey medallions enclosing offbeat large palmettes on a nearly black ground. Big, thin inverted and regular ecru “V” shapes partially frame super-stylized flowers and lesser geometric motives. The ivory main border displays rosettes. A few domestic fowl have infiltrated the design.
