A wool pile of asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation. Although the overall style is associated with the Qajar period, the enthroned figure depicted is Nader Shah, shown thickly bearded, crowned, and seated on a throne with cabriole legs, a sword laid across his lap. On the bone-beige ground he is attended by a Qajar page and two elderly henchmen. A narrow crimson border with a partially serrated, undulating meander frames the scene.
