A wool pile of asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation. A heroic ancient Persian king is shown stabbing a winged lion on a crimson field. Lion-headed spiral columns flank the scene, supporting a light blue spandrel panel depicting lion-and-bull combats. Below, a lion and a simurgh bird occupy the ground plane, with flowering plants rising alongside the columns. A sand-colored border features rosettes in the tangerine-flower style. The imagery is derived from a rock relief at Persepolis.
