Persia, Early 20th Century
2 ft. 10 in. x 3 ft. 5 in.

A wool pile of asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation. A visual pair to rug # 24993. A full-length figure of Ahmad Shah Qajar stands near his royal box throne, while the dervish Nur Ali Shah, holding his protective axe, appears at the left. A cityscape with prominent towers rises against a bone-toned sky in the background. At the right, a leafy tree is paired with a smaller cypress. Three calligraphic cartouches are placed above. Intarsia columns with floral arabesque capitals divide the scene. An ecru border is ornamented with tiny cypresses.
