An antique Persian Mahal runner. The dark charcoal field shows a well-drawn Herati design with ragged ‘fish’ leaves crossing over other motives, with details in cream, grey-green, medium brown and rust. The border of this west Persian village short kenare displays a classic Mahal stretched leaf and vine ribbon meander enclosing simple palmettes.
