A wool pile of symmetric knots on a wool foundation (fronts); wool plainweave in slit tapestry technique (backs). This beautifully executed, very fine khurdgin complete set (saddlebags) displays a star-lattice design on a deep blue ground, within a characteristic ecru border with an angled meander. Each face is topped with the Qashghai black-and-white chessboard pattern; the closure square braided loops are intact, and the red backs show mustard borders. An outstanding example, exemplifying the best nomadic work from this tribe and region.
