Antique Persian Sultanabad Carpet

An antique Persian Sultanabad carpet. A sandy ivory field supports four vertical repeats of a rust palmette, leaf and arabesque vine design with sky blue details, all within a rust turtle palmette border in the Mahal style.  Call it a ‘Mahal’ or a ‘Sultanabad’, be down-to-earth or fancy, but this carpet is an attractive antique product of the famous Mahal district in western Persia.
