An antique Persian Tabriz carpet. This outstanding Tabriz carpet dates from or just after the Hajji Jalili period in which the best antique carpets from that city were woven. The open ivory field has a complex eight-pointed layered rust medallion with a split arabesque outline. The corners are large and well developed, nearly meeting at the ends and sides of the field. The medium blue border deploys palmettes and tiny rosettes to good effect. In every way, a classic antique Tabriz carpet of high quality.
