A wool pile of asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation. This clever color sampler presents twelve distinct tones arranged in a tented pattern, ranging from wine red, raspberry, burgundy, camel, tan, and brown to deep navy, cobalt blue, medium blue, olive green, forest green, and near-black. A Shou-style round medallion crowns the apex, surrounded by a dark blue floral crescent. The wine-red to deep-coral sub-field is set against a dark navy-blue ground in an asymmetric, mihrab-like composition. Yazd samplers are exceptionally rare, and no other color samplers from the area are recorded.
