An antique Turkish Oushak carpet. A purely Persian design of cypresses, weeping willows, chenars (plane trees), flowerpots and small shrubs decorates the camel beige field of this west Turkish town carpet. The light blue border shows escutcheon palmettes alternating with complete flowers. Oushak copies of Persian designs were popular in the earlier 20th century.
