A wool pile of symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. This well-drawn ‘Turkish Tabriz’ carpet features a slate blue field with a semi-lattice of flattened, incomplete cloud bands, along with two types of rosettes. Spiraling vinery forms a secondary pattern layer. The inner off-white border displays a continuous inscription in Nastaliq calligraphy, while the abrashed rust main border features petal rosettes, petal palmettes, cloud bands, and tapered serrated leaves.
