Vintage East Turkestan Samarkand Accent Rug

A vintage East Turkestan Samarkand rug from the mid-20th century. When in doubt on a Xinjiang province carpet attribution, call it “Samarkand,” even if rugs were never woven there. This orange ground carpet displays a close lozenge and star pattern within a purple-accented vine and flower border. The well-balanced pattern and small size render it particularly versatile.
