A vintage Persian Afshar rug. This is one of the most popular Afshar tribal rug patterns: a waisted cartouche with three points at each end and, in this case, two central diamonds on a boteh-filled sandy ground. More tiny botehs inhabit the stepped side filler areas and the surrounding straw field. The slanted leaf and rosette main border is a SE Persian take on a popular pattern.
