Vintage Persian Gabbeh Pictorial Rug

A vintage Persian Gabbeh pictorial rug from the mid-20th century. On an old ivory ground, a pale yellow lion turns its well-maned head to look behind. The only other field elements are tiny grey-brown flowers in each corner.  The lion has a dark and faintly human face. A narrow red border with a rosette and X-patterned chain surrounds the king of beasts.
