Vintage Persian Malayer Wagireh Rug

A vintage Persian Malayer Wagireh rug. This rustic western Persian sampler displays an abbreviated, abrashed dark blue field decorated with a leaf, star, bird and tilted petal palmette. A quarter octogramme medallion in salmon-rose and mustard makes up the right side and there are three distinct border snippets.  A sampler may contain all the components of a larger rug, but this minuscule example would produce a very diminutive mat or scatter. A rare format for a sampler. Usually, they are square or rectangular, not narrow and strip-like. A particularly tiny wagireh.
