A vintage Persian Tabriz carpet. This Tabriz was woven not far from what was once Russian Azerbaijan, and it follows the Zeychur St. Andrew’s cross lattice repeat in the field, and the Kufesque bracket and “knot” chain in the main border. But the size does not allow any confusions regarding origin. Tabriz carpets of the 1920s and ’30s were particularly creative in their eclectic search for sources.
