Vintage Persian Tabriz Pictorial Rug

A vintage Persian Tabriz pictorial rug. An elaborate landscape with scaliform hills is inhabited by various seated, standing and running human figures, domestic animals, garden trees and plants, with a blue sky and streaky clouds above. Four additional half- length figures in cartouches ornament the corners of the border and poetic inscription cartouches are separated by diminutive trees. The weave is fine and urban, but the rendering is folky and informal.
