Vintage Turkish Anatolian Pictorial Rug

A wool pile of symmetric knots on a wool foundation. The abrashed dark brown field displays two matching, confronting lions in raspberry pink and magenta, with pale pink, ecru, taupe, and blue-gray details. A small bird stands between them. The ecru border features a chain of medium-brown hooked motifs, becoming more reciprocal along the sides. Possibly originally woven as a yastik, or cushion cover.
