Vintage Turkish Anatolian Pictorial Rug

A wool pile of symmetric knots on a wool foundation. Two highly abstracted lions in bright coral pink and tawny gold, with fringed manes and geometric heads, stare outward from the abrashed slate-gray field. Hooked X-motifs and quartered lozenges appear around and between them. The predominantly brown border displays irregularly placed hooked motifs in ivory and taupe. A brown wool flatweave finish completes one end. Originally woven as a yastik, or cushion cover.
