Vintage Turkish Art Deco Accent Carpet

A wool pile of symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. The near-black field presents two eccentrically placed columns, each composed of six color-sampler lozenges. Three smaller partial columns of lozenges hang from one end, and four human stick figures are interspersed among divided squares. The plain, roughly striped borders are rendered in red and beige. While the piece has a tribal appearance, it is clearly a European interpretation of nomadic design protocols.
