A wool pile of symmetric knots on a wool foundation. The milky bone field presents a central column of yaprak (leaf) diamond medallions, flanked by half-width side columns, with intervening columns of ragged palmettes. This design dates back to the 18th century and is believed to have originated in the Turkish port city of Smyrna. An ecru main border displays a slender trapezoidal meander with sketchy palmettes and short herringbone leaves.
