Vintage Turkish Flatweave Kilim Room Size Carpet

Wool pattern wefts in tapestry technique on a wool foundation. This rare large Kars flatweave, rather than the more usual pile format, presents a divided dark field with subtle panel abrash in the left-hand reserve. Each half displays three stepped salmon medallions, each containing four small inner diamonds. Hooked lozenges, symmetrized flowers, and quincunxes are scattered throughout. A baked salmon border features closely set stars.
