This ornak, consisting of a pattern fragment enclosed by complete borders, is a rare type of sampler that gives the impression of a fully realized rug. The bright red to coral-red field displays a petal palmette, rosettes, leaves, and stems in pale salmon, ivory, light and medium blue, olive green, straw yellow, and gray-blue. The complete warm straw-to-ochre main border features a repeating pattern of reversing fan palmettes linked by pale blue-gray vines. Also known as a “dastur.”
